The Morgenweide is a cultural landscape with several ponds in the French village of Village-Neuf near Saint-Louis. In a heavily overgrown bush and field copse lie several beautiful amphibian ponds, which are somewhat hidden and therefore not easy to find. They can only be reached via small paths. These ponds are fed by groundwater and are therefore filled with crystal clear water and are home to stonewort algae. There are several wet meadows and water ditches with reeds and sedges in the surrounding area.
Tour
From the bus station "Rue de Séville", follow the main road for about 150 metres in a southerly direction, where you then turn into the "Chemin de Hellhof". After crossing the deep moat (Augraben), follow the field path northwards to the floodplain below, where there are beautiful reed beds, fish ponds and amphibian ponds. Various walks can be made along the field paths. A footpath takes you directly back to the starting point.
Refreshments
There are hardly any picnic facilities along the way. Saint-Louis and Village-Neuf offer a few restaurants and shops.
